BRONTE HOUSE

Bronte House is a three-storey high end architecturally designed family residence. Perched above Bronte Beach in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, the off-form concrete residence offered numerous structural challenges that needed to be overcome during the design phase. The site is shored on three sides and retains existing residences to the North and South. The poor ground conditions required the design of heavily-loaded steel screw piles which support the building on a stratum some 6m below the formation level of the building. Complex construction staging required the installation of temporary steel props until the permanent brick walls could be constructed. All concrete floors and walls are exposed and require a high level of finish.
