RIPARIAN
Surveyor and explorer John Oxley was tasked with finding a suitable coastal location for a penal location. He journeyed through forest, following the Hastings River to the coast, to what we now know as Port Macquarie. An immersive setting of recycled hardwood/steel posts represent the forest, with three feature “touchstones” made from glass and stainless steel on concrete footings. The abstract pattern on the glass is inspired by the map drawn by John Oxley of the Hastings River.
